What We Do:

The stories of Concord are your stories as well. They should be remembered!

The Concord Historical Society was created in 2003. The society's utmost mission is to document and communicate the tales of the people who lived in this valley, along the Merrimack River.

The trustees of the Society are civic leaders and Concord citizens. The society conducts community events, educational programs and are in the process of gathering the audio histories of Concord residents, including Concord's living mayors (all seven of them).

In 2007, work began on the society's first major project: a history of Concord in the 20th century. Writing this history will be a community project that documents the true story of Concord life. Concord's leaders and prominent institutions will also contribute history to the project. The last history of Concord was written in the early 1900s, and the tremendous leaps and bounds that took place in the 20th century must be preserved for civic, educational and historical use. John Milne, whos not only a longtime Concord resident but a veteran journalist, is the history's editor. The project is expected to take two years to complete.

Preliminary fundraising is under way. The society hopes to raise $200,000 for the history.

Please join in our cause! We hope you will consider a giving donation that will be a lasting gift to our wonderful city.
